"Soviet People And Collective Farms | English Russia." English Russia. N.p., n.d. Web. 31 Aug. 2014. <http://englishrussia.com/2012/10/24/soviet-people-and-collective-farms/>.
Kolkhoz
Kolkhoz describes a form of a collective farm in the Soviet Union(Russian). I think that it is would help you guys understand the book because this place is one of the places that Shukhov work for and by knowing this term I think that it would help the reader better understand where and in what condition Shukhov was working in.

Word number 2.

Baptist
This word actually means individuals who comprise a group of denominations and churches but on this content I think that there is nothing to do with churches and things like this. So this really confuses me. Can the readers of this post please comment about the word Baptist in the content of the book please tell me what it is in your comment.

Gulag
"Gulag." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 31 Aug. 2014. Web. 31 Aug. 2014. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulag>.
G
Gulags are governments agencies in Russia that administered the main soviet forced labor camp system during the Stalin era. I think that readers of this book should know this term because this is the main setting of this book and it might help the readers know where Shukhov is actually held in by this I mean; what type of prison, when and where.

Word number 4.

Bendera's men
Bendera's men is a general in the soviet army who betrayed his country(Russia) in WWII. And one of Shukhov's friend Gopchik was arrested for delivering milk to them. I think that this term wouldn't actually help the readers of this book massively however I think that it would at least help the readers understand the one of the characters (Gopchik).

In my opinion I truly think that this post was my best post to boost the learning of my peers. As my language was not such a formal language, more of a friendly language. Moreover, I think that I picked the right words to explain.

Historical content

The blind side

For a long time historical novels had brought us valid ideas that shaped our society in some way. For example, this novel " One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich" written by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The setting of this novel is in a Stalinist labor camp in 1951 also known as gulags. Gulags are political prisons that where built in the Soviet Union. When Stalin was dictating the Soviet Union (Chicago Public Library 2014). The protagonist Shukhov describes the camp as a place of misery and pain.

" There are two ends to a stick, and there's more than one way of working. If it's for human beings - make sure and do it properly. If it's for the big man - just make it look good" (page 70). This quote said by Shukhov introduces a new idea which is that prisoners have limited power but, that they always resists the guards when and where they can. This idea is still valid ind our society right now. As, in nowadays many countries normal citizens might not have the power to protest against the government however, they still do. For example, in hong kong there is a protest going on which is called the "Umbrella Revolution" because protesters use umbrellas to defend themselves from police tear gas and pepper spray (Cnn). Whom are fighting for a true, free and fair election even though the governments call these protests illegal.

There is another idea that this quote introduces to our world. This idea has a lot to do with education and work because the concept of this idea is about giving your 110% in every thing you do. The idea introduced by this quote is that " people might do things just to get it done, however the consequence of that is that you won't get anything out of it". This idea is still valid nowadays because people who procrastinate will exist for the entire human history. Moreover, one might prove this idea right by stating all the wonderful inventions that hard working people have invented, such as the smart phones, refrigerators, cars and etc.

Overall, the historical novel " One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich" written by Alexander Solzhenitsyn introduces a new idea to our society that is still valid these days. Which is that; even if citizens in some countries have limited power, they will still protest their rights for a better life and country.

Time will prove it

Did you ever try to persuade someone with your belief and it didn’t work out really well? If your belief statement was right, the person that you wanted to persuade will get persuaded over time. In the historical novel “ One Day In the Life Of Ivan Denisovich” written by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the protagonist Shukhov made a decision that changed who he was because time has proven to him that his philosophy was wrong and that the christian philosophy was right.

After Shukhov had a conversation with Alyoshka a baptist, belonging to a Christian denomination. Alyoshka was trying to persuade Shukhov to become a christian. Alyoshka did not manage to persuade Shukhov in their first conversation because Shukhov was a non religous person, very . However, after time flows, Shukhov realizes that Alyoshka was right because and Shukhov prays to god for another good day. The story does not just end there after Shukhov prays, he gives Alyoshka a precious biscuit expecting him not to pay him back in some sort of way. This meant that Shukhov has completely changed his personality because in the past Shukhov always did things to get something repaid or for his benefits. Therefore one might say that Shukhov had made a justified choice to change his personality. Thus he became a more warm hearted person. Moreover, there are many psychological facts that proves that humans cannot fight the truth. Facts such as, the hardest thing that the human mind can do is to convince themselves that they are right while knowing that they are wrong (8facts), when you admit that you are wrong you feel relief but if you lie to yourself that you are right you will feel pain (8 facts).

Overall, the novel One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich written by Alexander Solzhenitsyn proves that time will change your beliefs, by telling the reader about Shukhov's decision to change.
